Black History Month

February is Black History Month, a time of celebration, reflection and education.

In this episode Kalkidan celebrates and honors Black History Month by shinning light on the experiences of Black University Students.

The Black Experience is not a singular one, nor is it linear, it is diverse, and unique to the individual. Kalkidanamplifies this through various interviews with the following guests; Olivia Rowinski Jazmyne McLaughlin, Gayo Isaya, Emmanuel Ogunlola Joesph and UNB’s very own Diversity and Wellness coordinator, Marcus Lees.

Men's Mental Health

In honor of Men’s Mental Health Month, UNB in 30’s newest host Kalkidan Burke sheds light on Men’s Mental Health and the challenges that Men in the UNB community are faced with. Kalkidan sparks meaningful conversation by amplifying the voices of 3 UNB Male students, Alex Chaisson, a 5th year Engineering student, Kola Ojo, 3rd year Electrical Engneering student and Reese Zorogolee, 4th year Psychology Student and member of the UNB Mens Varsity Reds Basketball team. Kalkidan also sat down with UNB’s very own Mental Health Strategist Matthew MacLean. Kalkidan believes that conversation is the first step in de-stigmatization and encourages everyone to join the conversation.

Student Finances: The impact of ending the NB EI Connect program

Kola speaks with Eva Chamberlin, the New Brunswick University student who organized a petition to re- instate NB EI Connect, about the impact of the provincial government's decison to terminate this program.
He chats as well with UNB Student Union President Kordell Walsh regarding his dealings with the provincial government on the matter.
